London, 17th August 2015

The artistic side of the automotive industry will be celebrated at the inaugural Classic & Sports Car – The London Show, which takes place at Alexandra Palace this autumn.

From sculptors and photographers, to painters and digital renderers, an exciting selection of artists will be present at the historic motoring celebration.

Tim Layzell, a UK-based artist frequently commissioned by some of the world’s biggest and most famous motoring events including the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, will be exhibiting a selection of paintings.

Tim has produced the show’s bespoke artwork, which depicts three legendary British cars at Alexandra Palace: cars which are, with seven others, vying to be the Best British Car Ever in Classic & Sport Car’s new global poll with the winner set to be revealed at The London Show in the autumn.

As a motorsport fan and former competitor, Tim’s passion for racing is evident in his ‘pop-art’ style paintings. He will have a selection of paintings available to buy on his stand, along with a collection of limited edition prints. Two of these key pieces will be ‘Catch That Whale’, which depicts a Porsche 935 (nicknamed ‘Moby Dick’) and ‘Reeling Them In’ showing Fangio’s famous victory at the Nurburgring in 1957.

Also joining the event is Paul Pennell of Artistry in Aluminium, who creates beautiful handmade repoussé metalwork pieces – a technique which lends itself to depicting cars and creating motoring art. The three dimensional images give fantastic reflections, portraying their subjects in a totally different way to that of a traditional painting. Paul will be bringing a stunning example of his work to this year’s event, an Aston Martin DB5.

Combining photography, computer graphics and 3D work, Unique & Limited recreates major historical events, showing them in a new perspective, colour and detail. For Classic & Sports Car – The London Show the artists will be presenting brand new collections, featuring three new prints which represent the Battle of Britain, alongside stunning pieces showing the Bugatti T35 and the Maserati 250F.

Robin Bark’s dynamic sculptures and paintings capture the essence of iconic cars in their purest form. The polished surfaces of his sculptures reflect the light, imparting a sense of speed to the solid aluminium forms. Robin will have a selection of his pieces on show at the inaugural event, including new paintings and a limited edition DB5 sculpture. The last of his 50th anniversary Mustang pieces, described by Ford Vice President, Moray Callum, as “an object of art that appears to be fluid motion”, will also be featured.

James Elliott, Classic & Sports Car group editor, said: “We’re really pleased with the wide range of automotive art set to be on display at our first London Show. The worlds of art and motoring complement each other beautifully and with much more yet to be confirmed, this is just a small glimpse of what visitors can expect to see at the end of October.”

Tim Layzell, said: “The challenge is always to capture the movement of the subject. I’m really looking forward to showing a selection of my pieces to visitors at this year’s event and sharing my passion for both motoring and art.”

Paul Pennell, Artistry in Aluminium, said: “Events such as Classic & Sports Car – The London Show, provide a great opportunity to talk to fellow car enthusiasts about the process behind each piece, as well as gathering inspiration for future work.”

Classic & Sports Car – The London Show will feature more than 300 of the world’s most prestigious classic cars from world-famous collectors and world-renowned classic car retailers. Organised by Classic & Sports Car, the world’s best-selling classic car magazine, the London Show will also announce the results of its worldwide poll to find the Best British Car Ever.
