Automotive PR: Bicester Heritage to play host to the must-see Classic & Sports Car Show in association with Flywheel this weekend

Here’s what attendees can expect at this truly unique event:

Classic Cars

An unparalleled gathering of automotive greats will be not only on display but also in motion around the Bicester Heritage figure-of-eight test track, including the record-setting 1935 Eccles Rapier Special (the only car to ever be victorious on the Outer, Mountain and Campbell circuits at Brooklands). One of the first twenty MGBs ever produced and one of three works-backed entries in the 1964 Sebring 12 Hour race will also be demonstrating, giving spectators a rare chance to see, hear and smell this important race car at pace.

Motorbikes

The 94-year-old 1924 Henley 350 Sport earns the title of oldest bike at the show. This truly historically significant machine has been preserved in superlative condition, and it will be accompanied by the likes of the thunderous 1966 MV Agusta 350/3 cylinder 7 speed.

Aircraft

Alongside stunning aerial demonstrations – including the recreation of a WW1 ‘dogfight’, Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster bomber display and captivating aerobatic manoeuvres from a Pitts Special biplane – will be a very special return to the skies for two World War II veterans. Maurice Marriott (aged 93) and Eddie Habberley (95) – who both served in the RAF – will take to the skies and back into the Tiger Moth aeroplanes that they piloted during their military careers.

Military

Armoured cars, battle-scarred Jeeps and even the likes of a bullet-ridden 1939 Grant tank (which was used as a target to test captured German ammunition on) will be fired up and commandeered around Bicester Heritage and offer a rare opportunity to see these mighty military machines up close.

Auction

For those looking to purchase a classic of their own, over 100 cars will cross the block in Hangar 113 from official auction partner Brightwells on Sunday with as varied a collection of vehicles on sale as those seen throughout the show.

Concours

A selection of the rarest, most desirable cars in the world will be judged in The Flywheel Concours, to be held on the former RAF Technical Site for the first time. The categories are as follows: The Dawn of the Supercar, Movie Star Cars, Classic Rally Cars and Cars of the 1948 Earl’s Court Motor Show.

Hagerty Classic Car Valuations

Classic car owners are encouraged to bring their pride and joy to display, with a dedicated pre-1976 Parking Area to display these vehicles and industry-leading insurers Hagerty (Bicester Heritage’s Official Insurance Partner) on hand to offer on-site valuations for those wondering just what their car is worth.

Meet the specialists

The doors of the incredible specialists that make Bicester Heritage the UK’s only hub for historic motoring excellence will be fully opened for all members of the public, a first in the event’s history and an exclusive opportunity to see the inner workings of these businesses.

Shopping

Whether it be Bremont watches (Bicester Heritage’s Official Timing Partner), the model planes of The Vintage Model Co. or even helicopters from Sloane Helicopters, there is something for everyone within the shopping area of the show.

What’s more, Bicester Heritage’s own Wriggly Monkey Brewery will be serving Bicester-brewed beer from the former MT Yard and is on hand to help those looking to quench their thirst among the myriad machinery and displays throughout the weekend – the perfect way to toast a great day out.
