Building on the success of its revolutionary digital retail store, Rockar Hyundai, at the Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent, Hyundai and Rockar have today announced the opening of the second Rockar Hyundai site at Westfield London, Stratford on the 1th December 2015.
The store itself will measure 250 square metres, and will play host to Hyundai’s newest models including All-New Tucson, New Generation i20 and the award-winning i10. The store will be located on the lower ground floor next to Virgin Media.
Since it opened in November 2014, Rockar Hyundai has been changing the car-buying experience for the better, blending online and offline retailing with friendly, knowledgeable ‘Angels’ rather than salespeople on commission-based pay. Customers are in complete control of the buying process, with all the facts and figures and as much time and flexibility with their order as they need. With cars in-store and test drives available, customers also have easy access to touch and feel Hyundai’s products.
Consumers have welcomed Rockar Hyundai’s unique sales approach. Since its launch in November 2014, Rockar Hyundai has welcomed 163,000 people, with 18,200 of those in just one month. On its busiest day, more than 1,200 people walked through Rockar Hyundai’s doors.
But the figures show that Rockar Hyundai customers’ interactions haven’t ended when they leave the physical store – in fact, 50 per cent of purchases have been completed on www.rockar.com at home. In fact, there have been 150,000 user journeys on www.rockar.com in total.
Rockar Hyundai has had huge success in reaching new customers with a younger profile. 94 per cent of buyers have been new to the brand and the average age is just 39 years old. With a clear and honest representation of the costs of buying a new car, Rockar Hyundai has also lured 72 per cent of its customers away from the used car market. In addition, the purchasing model of Rockar Hyundai has also strongly resonated with women with over 54 per cent of all buyers being female.
In terms of cars sold, Rockar Hyundai at Bluewater is in the Top 10 dealers in the country and the store has achieved more test drives than a typical dealership would in the last year. Called ‘You Drive’, customers can book a slot to get behind the wheel of one of Hyundai’s models at the on-site Experience Centre. For existing customers, Rockar Hyundai also has a servicing department so customers can get their car serviced while they shop.
Rockar Hyundai at Westfield will feature 18 ‘Angels’, 11 interactive tablets – on which customers can buy a car – while the Experience Centre has 20 cars for ‘You Drive’ test drives. Thanks to a tablet located outside of the store, customers can still browse and purchase when the store is closed but the shopping centre is open.
Rockar Hyundai has already amassed an impressive amount of accolades. 96 per cent of customers say that they would recommend Rockar Hyundai, and it has earned a customer experience rating of 4.9/5.
It has also been voted Retail Week Digital Store of the Year, Winner of VMSD Retail Awards Specialty Store, Gold winner in the POPAI Awards’ Flagship & Store category and Winner of Automotive News Europe’s L.E.A.D.E.R Digital Retail award.
Simon Dixon, CEO and founder of Rockar, said: “Rockar Hyundai has a clear vision – to offer consumers an easy and flexible way to buy and own a car and from the results we have seen that vision is clearly resonating with consumers. We’re at the stage now where we can move forward confidently with the opening of a new store in one of the UK’s leading retail destinations in London.”
Tony Whitehorn, President & CEO, Hyundai Motor UK, said: “We have been really impressed by the positive public reaction to our first Rockar Hyundai store, and we’re confident that the new site at Westfield London will continue to attract more people to our brand.”
